UConn coach Jim Calhoun was happy to see reserve forward Gavin Edwards put up a career-high 17 points Monday in the No. 2 Huskies' 79-49 rout of Delaware State.He's hoping Edwards can provide some competition for minutes when former starter Stanley Robinson returns to the team on Dec. 15 after missing a semester for personal reasons. more >>

Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell was recovering Monday from surgery to repair nine breaks in two fingers of his non-throwing hand, but he won't miss any playing time. Texas Tech spokesman Chris Cook confirmed details of Harrell's injury and Sunday surgery. Renee Montgomery had a career-high 30 points and matched the Connecticut record with 13 assists to help the top-ranked Huskies rout No. 4 Oklahoma 106-78 on Sunday night. Justin Mason scored 14 points and No. 6 Texas shook off any lingering jet lag from a holiday tournament in Hawaii with a 77-56 win over Rice on Sunday. Gary Johnson added 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds for the Longhorns (5-1), who arrived back in Austin on Friday after playing in the Maui Invitational.
